The DTX 120 has a wider body and chest design to give more action at slower speeds, even when riding behind a kayak. The bib is designed differently than the larger DTX minnows to allow for easier casting and retrieval of the 120, and to allow it to bounce off the frame and be very snag resistant. It is an extremely versatile lure and will max out. diving depth when trolling as slow as 2 knots, but can also be fished offshore for grouper and kingfish up to 6 knots.

The other key feature of the Autotune system is the incredible depth of immersion that can be achieved. The system's ability to center itself perfectly on the dorsal each time means that the tow point can be designed to be as far back as possible from the dorsal, effectively just ahead of the point where the lure becomes unstable and will not swim. However, having the tow point as close to this “no swim point” as possible is what achieves maximum diving depth, but it can only be done with a perfectly centered tow point. Traditional trolling lures with fixed eyelets cannot position the tow point that far back on the bib and have to leave room for error in the manufacturing process.

In addition to Autotune technology, the hidden Hydrospeed belly grommet allows for faster drag speeds with single hooks and ensures the lure balances with single hooks, so the DTX minnow keeps swimming straight and true. The extra belly grommet in front of the Hydrospeed grommet is designed to be able to attach an assist hook when targeting big fish that might jump.
